Kiri Schumacher completed a BFA at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland. Her jewellery is inspired by the botanic world, such as the small details of plants’ leaves, buds, and pods. Just as in natural environments, where bone, rock, and shell aregradually worn back to elemental forms, Kiri refinesstructure back to its simplest form, in order to draw out the essential quality within a shape. Spirituality plays a large part in Kiri’s practice and she has a special interest in the healing qualities of native New Zealand plants. Her intention is to gift the wearer with a blessing, as much as with a physical piece of art. Kiri grew up in Taranaki and now lives in Auckland.
