Penelope Barnhill

Penelope is an established jeweller, she has been a self employed maker for over 28 years.

With over eighty exhibitions nationally and internationally (both solo and group) in Munich, Paris, New York, New Orleans, Sydney, and Rarotonga her work has been collected worldwide by private collectors, The Dowse Art Museum and Auckland Museum.

After completing a double degree in Visual Communication/Craft Design, majoring in Print Making and Sculpture/3D Design she was awarded an emerging artist grant from Creative New Zealand one year graduating. Three years later after hiring bench space with Warwick Freeman Penelope was accepted to exhibit at Schmuckscene along with Lisa Walker.  A second grant was awarded for her Pacific Pearl Project, a residency in Rarotonga producing a body of work exhibited nationally and internationally first opening at RJS. From that date her focus has been consistently expanding her themes and commissioned work.
